Dressmaking
Do you have an idea for a shirt you just can’t find in real life shops? Or a beloved skirt that fits you perfectly but is falling to bits? Does your ideal cut or style of trousers not exist in shops anymore? I make all sorts of clothing, from wedding dresses to wookie costumes (yes, really). I can either use your ideas or requests, or remake your existing clothes. I'm not trained in classic menswear tailoring, though, so I can't help there.
Repairs
I can replace zips, mend tears, sew buttons back on. We are so much more aware of extending the life of our clothing, not just throwing things away because the zip is busted. I can help with that! I love clothes and would far rather they were out in the world, being worn and loved, than sitting at the back of your wardrobe because there's a tear in the pocket or missing buttons.
Alterations
If your jeans fit perfectly everywhere but around your waist. If your dress is just a bit too long, or sits funny around your hips. I take up trousers and shorten straps and all sorts of other tweaks. The important thing is making your clothing fit you. I was raised with the ethos if that something doesn't fit you, the problem is with the clothing, not you. The clothes should fit you, not the other way around.
Pricing: I don't have standard prices, because I tend not to do the standard jobs! It's a bit of a “how long is a piece of string” kind of question, because there are so many factors that can affect how long it takes to make something. Please ask me for a quote, I'm happy to give you a rough idea of how much a job will cost.
I require a £15 deposit to secure a first appointment. This is included in the cost of any finished work, or refundable if you decide not to continue with the project.
