Who I am

I learned to sew with my mum, as a kid. It was my hobby for years, until my health started playing up and it became the best option for being my job too. I've been sewing professionally since 2010 and I know I'm so lucky to be able to make my passion into my job.

I'm a disabled person and a wheelchair user. I'm also a trans man. I know all about having to tweak existing clothing, or start from scratch altogether because mainstream fashion isn't meeting your needs. The number one rule in my studio is that we make the clothes fit you, not the other way around.

Because I am queer person, I want my studio to be a safe space for everyone. I know how important clothes can be to feeling like the world sees you for who you are, and I want to be able to help folk who need it feel safe and comfortable in whatever way they choose to clothe their bodies.

My old name was Emmy and for reasons relating to my being a total Pratchett nerd, my old job title was Seamstress. If you were in contact with me pre-pandemic, or found me through old links, my name is Emrys and my pronouns are he/they. I haven't found a job title I like yet for a man who sews but is not a tailor; I guess there aren't that many of us around!
